Joystiq reports today that Xbox One games should very soon be available to pre-order digitally via Xbox Live marketplace.
The news comes via an episode of Sunset Overdrive developer Insomniac Games’s Sunset TV broadcast, in response to a fan question about purchasing the Day One Edition bonus content for Sunset Overdrive.
The show’s host, Brandon Winfrey, responded to the fan’s question with, “Yes, if you pre-order the game digitally, you will get the Day One Edition content. You can’t pre-order it digitally yet, but soon you will be able to.”
As Joystiq notes, Winfrey does not say exactly when digital pre-orders will be available on Xbox One, but reading between the lines it does seem that it will be happening before Sunset Overdrive is released on October 28.
Microsoft has yet to confirm the news, but Joystiq says that Xbox Studio manager Mike Ybarra said a few months ago that digital pre-orders would be something that he would “love” to see on Xbox One, and also said that it was definitely a feature that Microsoft had in the pipeline.
